A Treasure from the Brazillian Rainforest
We're bringing Cacau Nectar to the world.
This vibrant golden juice is cold pressed from the pulp and seeds of the cacau fruit. It's a refreshing drink that's virtually unknown outside of the state of Bahia Brasil.
Sourced from Bahia’s Atlantic Forest
Our nectar comes directly from smallholder farmers in the lush Mata Atlântica region in the state of Bahia.
A harvest-time drink traditionally enjoyed by local farmers and cherished as a regional delicacy.
We press the cacau nectar after we harvest the cacao pods. We then remove the cacao pulp and seeds to press and extract the cacao nectar. We then freeze the nectar to preserve its flavor and nutrients without adding any preservatives.
Growing Good from the Ground Up
By supporting local farmers and sustainable growing methods,
we’re building an ethical supply chain that regenerates the land and uplifts communities.
Here’s what our customers are saying
We craft a 100% natural product — pure, clean, and free from any additives
Fresh. Fruity. Frozen.
Mel de Cacau is the local name of cacau nectar. Vendors in Southern Bahia sell the drink on the side of the road, at the beach, in grocery stores, and in restaurants. The theobromine in the drink gives the same feeling we get after we eat chocolate - an energizing bliss! It's also packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. No preservatives or additives of any sort. Just fresh pressed golden nectar.
Mix the nectar into your açai bowl to sweeten it up! Mix it with your coconut water at the beach. If you're a bartender you can make an incredible mixed drink with it. Swap out that high fructose corn syrup margarita mix with some fresh cacao nectar and watch your bar go viral. People have never tasted anything like this so be prepared when they want more.
Serve it as a refreshing slushy, or enjoy it fully liquid - either way, it's a vibrant taste of Southern Bahia, Brazil.

Why “Zumbi Foods”?
Our name honors Zumbi dos Palmares — a leader who resisted slavery in colonial Brazil and built the largest settlement of free Africans in the Americas.
Since many cacao farmers around the world are of African descent, we chose this name to recognize that history and the people
behind the cacao.
Who’s Behind the Brand
Jibril Studied Agroecology at UC Berkeley and came to Brazil to surf tropical waves and train capoeira Angola.
He farmed organic fruits, vegetables, and livestock in the San Francisco Bay Area before coming to Bahia, Brazil. On a Surf Trip to Southern Bahia, he bought a few liters of cacau nectar from a beach vendor. On the first sip he knew he had to share the drink with the world.
Today, he leads our work to support farmers, protect the rainforest, and share something rare and real with the world.
First Batch on the Way
Our first batch of cacau nectar is on its way to you.
We’re working directly with small farmers in Bahia’s Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica)
to bring this refreshing, little-known drink to new audiences. Pre-orders will be
available soon.
Building a Better Supply Chain
We're raising funds to build a certified organic and fair trade supply chain from the ground up.
This means helping hundreds of smallholder cacao and cupuaçu farmers join
an organic system — with support at every step.
Farmers will get:
Training in dynamic agroforestry (a way of growing food that restores soil and water);
Compost to replace chemical fertilizers;
Tools and support for the organic transition;
Better prices for organic cacao.
Our goal is to create a system that supports people and the planet — without relying on harmful chemicals or exploitative practices.
Creating Local Jobs
We’re also planning to build a certified organic, fair trade facility in Bahia.
It will process Cacao Nectar locally, while offering fair wages and safe working conditions for everyone involved.
